  • Equity Research Associate, Consumer Staples
    Equity Research Associate to join Consumer Edge Research and our Consumer Staples team (covering food, HPC, etc.) in our New York, NY office.
    Responsibilities
    • Build and maintain Excel-based financial models, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and intrinsic value calculations.
    • Research and write on key topics around the Consumer Staples industry – with a focus on company coverage initiation pieces, company/industry deep dives, and differentiated white papers.
    • Compile and interpret simple and complex company & industry data files from both traditional and alternative data sources.
    • Analyze both new and existing data sets through simple and multi-factor statistical models.
    • Over time, attend and report on analyst days, industry conferences, and company management presentations.
    Additional Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree with proven history of academic and professional success.
    • Mastery of the English language.
    • Strong writing skills.
    • Financial / Economics Research, Investment Banking, Trading, or Consulting experience preferred.
    • Progress on CFA charter a plus.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Statistical analysis or programming experience a plus.
    • Knowledge / interest in economics, accounting, financial markets, statistics, forecasting, and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
    • 0-2 years experience.

Consumer Edge Insight

  • Research Analyst Intern
    Research Analyst Intern to join Consumer Edge Insight in our New York, NY office.
    Responsibilities
    The position we are hiring for combines the two aspects of this quickly growing company as the Research Analyst Intern will be using market knowledge of both publicly and privately traded companies to assist in cleaning and bucketing data in order to support Big Data products and machine learning algorithms. Specifically, the position requires using several fields of available data to try to match text strings to company names.
    Qualifications
    • Basic SQL knowledge a plus, especially using regular expressions to search for text strings.
    • Ability to code programs that can track volatility and highlight outliers to assess missing data potential.
    • Must be able to dig into the aforementioned outliers and find missing data.
    • Strong quantitative and statistics skills.
    • Needs to be a fast learner, persistent and willing to expend time looking for solutions, able to work independently, and a creative troubleshooter.
    • ENGLISH PROFICIENCY REQUIRED
    • Knowledge of US retailers and other consumer-facing businesses a plus.
